Course Outline:

Certificate III in Cake and Pastry  is a qualification that covers the retail baking – cake and pastry specialisation within the food processing industry.

All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, in accordance with State/Territory food safety, and work health and safety, regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

Entry into this qualification can be by direct entry with relevant work experience or after completion of Certificate II in Baking qualification.

Delivery Summary:

To achieve this qualification a total of fifteen (15) units of competency must be completed, including eleven (11) core units and four (4) elective units.  The program is self paced with training being in a workplace delivery environment or other flexible learning environment.  The program has rolling enrolments which means you can start any time and do not need to wait for semesters.  For non-traineeship enrolment the course is fee for service and the price is dependent on unit selection.

Important information for Apprentices in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

The the Australian Capital Territory this program is funded by Skilled Capital. Skilled Capital is an ACT Government training initiative, funded by the ACT and Australian Governments.

You may be eligible for a completion payment.  Please read the eligibility criteria below:

The completion payment was introduced for Australian Apprentices commencing on or after
1 January 2016.  A completion payment will be paid directly to the Australian Apprentices upon completion of the qualification and a survey.  The completion payment is $300 for each qualification.  Australian Apprentices will be eligible to receive the completion payment for up to one (1) year after successful completion of the qualification, provided up to date email and bank account details are confirmed.  The Australian Apprentices must lodge their bank account details via the AVETARS student portal.

An Australian Apprentice is not eligible for a completion payment where more than 50% of the units are achieved through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) (if you are not sure about RPL please contact your trainer).

An Australian Apprentice may be eligible for a completion payment if more than 50% of the units are achieved via credit transfer where the achievement is the result of:

  • a training contract variation i.e. change of RTO and/or qualification; or
  • the Australian Apprentice undertaking a training contract with a new employer for the same qualification or its replacement in a new training contract.

This completion payment eligibility criteria will apply to Australian Apprentices that complete a qualification on or after 1 January 2019.

An Australian Apprentice in an ACT unfunded or fee-for-service training contract is not eligible for a completion payment.  If unsure about your funding status please contact your trainer.
